“The Injured Healer” is a new 6-track album by James Plotkin and Jon Mueller. While the two have worked closely on numerous projects and releases, this marks their 2nd official collaborative album as a duo - a 40+ minute exercise of gongs, davul, and Buchla modular synthesizer that ranges from deep, meditative passages to disorienting tidal waves of sonic pressure.
Both Plotkin and Mueller have a long history of working with sound. Plotkin as a guitarist/bassist with notable groups (Khanate, Phantomsmasher, OLD) and as a mastering engineer for DIY projects as well as Grammy-winning soundtracks. Mueller has played in a variety of bands (Volcano Choir, Collections of Colonies of Bees, Mind Over Mirrors) but is most known for distilling his approach within these groups into his solo projects.
As a duo, Plotkin and Mueller bring both of their histories and voices to an equal mix, resulting in work that can be both calming and disquieting, but always inviting to listen closely.
